Ideal pneumatic gentle stretch therapy to open a fisted hand

Orthotic therapy for moderate to severe wrist, hand, finger joint stiffness, or contractures. Ideal to treat adaptive tissue shortening contracture(s) of the MCP / PIP joints of the fingers using graduated air pressure to reverse a fisted hand. The Air Graduate is also excellent for fisted hands complicated by spasticity. The AirPro® Graduate is the best AirPro® selection for treating a badly fisted hand that may require starting with the palmar air bladder independently in the hand and where a permanently attached palmar air bladder/wrist support would be difficult to apply and remove. A detachable (deflated) cone-shaped air bladder is carefully inserted into a fisted hand. Using an inflation/deflation bulb, air is inserted into the air bladder to provide a gentle stretch on the affected joints of the fingers and thumb to reverse significant adaptive tissue shortening. The cone-shaped finger/thumb component of the device can be attached to a long opponent orthotic base to treat wrist contracture. Orthotic treatment should be continued until function is restored to the affected hand. For MCP or PIP only contractures, the Air Graduate palmar air bladder may be difficult to keep in place. The fixed long opponent wrist and forearm support of the AirPro® Grip with the permanently attached wrist and forearm support may be a better design to properly maintain the position of the air bladder in the hand.
